Kitajima was established in 1696 by selling this snack, which was originally made as bite-sized preserved food for Portuguese sailors in the Saga ports. However, as the store started to improve the recipe, the snack became a huge hit with the locals. To this day, the cookies are still made by hand using only the best local ingredients. We recommend either dipping it in milk, eating with ice cream, or spreading cream cheese on it.
